چکیده

This study aimed to find the depositional environment and formation conditions of gypsum-dominated Miocene succession alternated intercalated with clastics carbonates in southwestern part Erzincan Basin. As a result sedimentological, mineralogical-petrographic investigations, it was determined that gypsum this sequence formed as primary secondary. Primary lithofacies; nodular anhydrite, selenitic, discoidal, arenitic secondary It is divided into massive, laminated, banded, nodular, brecciated, satin-spar. The facies repetitions folds, fractures, cracks faulting showed effect tectonism water level fluctuations basin. In addition, these investigations revealed sedimentary structures such cross-bedding, ripple undulations, chicken-wire, enterolithic bacterial-algal structures, parallel laminations lithofacies. addition these, understood lithofacies were exposed diagenetic processes under influence hot-humid semi-arid climate, organic matter activity, meteoric/underground-water hydrothermal solution factors, subjected high temperature, pressure, salinity pH conditions.

Relationship Between Depositional Facies and Reservoir Characteristics of the Oligo-Miocene Asmari Formation, Aghajari Oilfield, SW Iran

The present study focuses on facies analysis and the reservoir characteristics of the Asmari Formation in the Aghajari oilfield (located in the Zagros fold-thrust belt, southwest Iran), and how they are linked to depositional environments and reservoir characteristics. This formation consists of about 380 m carbonates with some siliciclastic intercalations. Based on the integration of 1200 m of...

Geological setting of iron oxide-apatite deposits in theBafq ‎district, central Iran with an emphasis on mineralogical, petrographic, and geochemical study of the Sechahun deposit

The objective of this research is to determine all processes in the magmatic evolution and related hydrothermal activities that created the volcanic rocks and associated ore-forming systems of the Bafq ‎mining district. Several iron oxide-apatite (IOA) deposits were investigated in this area with a focus on the Sechahun ore deposit. The Bafq ‎mining district is well known for hosting significan...

Textural pattern of secondary gypsum in the Basal Anhydrite of the Asmari Formation, SW Iran

The Oligocene–Miocene deposits of the Asmari Formation are located in SW of the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The lower part of the Asmari Formation consists of an evaporite bed that is termed Basal Anhydrite. Seven sections from four different anticlines were selected and sampled for petrographic and mineralogical analyses .The petrographical examinations were carried out using an optical polarize...

An Integrated Mineralogical, Petrographic, Light Stable Isotope and Noble Gas Investigation of Sahara 99201 Ureilite

Introduction: Sahara 99201 (provisional name) is a new ureilite weighing 91g collected from the Sahara desert during 1999. The sample has been analysed to determine both mineralogy and petrography and also its light element stable isotopic composition. Methodology: Mineralogical analyses were carried out using a Cameca SX100 electron microprobe, with a beam current of 20nA, accelerating voltage...
